Did you know that Google Docs support voice typing?  Once you have a Google Doc open, click on "Tools" and then click on "Voice Typing".

If students are using a Chromebook they can use the built-in microphone to have the Chromebook type exactly what they are saying.  If using a desktop computer, students will need to use an external microphone to record their voice.

Ways to Use It In Your Classroom

  • Think about the student that you have that struggles typing.  This would be a great way for them to "type" answers, a paper, etc.
  • This could also be a great brainstorming tool.  Students could make a list of everything that pops in their head on a particular topic and then sort through this knowledge.
  • Students could also record interviews and automatically have a transcript of the interview.
