Using Google Keep to Save Time Commenting on Student Work

Google Keep is a great organization tool in the GSuite. You can use it to keep lists for a variety of reasons such as To-Do Lists, lesson planning & resources, etc. Never used Google Keep - check out this video for the basics. How about using it to help you save time when grading student work or completing report cards? If you find that you are using the same or relatively same comments frequently as you are grading an assessment, Google Keep is the tool for you. Google Docs now integrates well with Google Keep. You can open up any list that you have created in Google Keep as a sidebar in a Google Doc. This means that if you create a list in Google Keep with frequently used comments, you can now simply copy and paste them into the Google Doc without ever having to leave the Google Doc. According to wikipedia "A flipped classroom is an instructional strategy and a type of blended learning that reverses the traditional learning environment by delivering instructional content, often online, outside of the classroom. It moves activities, including those that may have traditionally been considered homework, into the classroom." Tech Tools for Creating a Flipped Classroom Creating/Finding Lesson Resources The first step is to start curating the resources you are going to use to build your lessons. These could be lessons that are already online through a resource such as Khan Academy or PBS Learning Media . These could also be resources that you create yourself. Tech Tools to Support Math Instruction

Here are some great websites and Chrome apps/extensions to use in your classroom to support math instruction: Websites RtI Resources is a google site created by teachers in our district with great online resources for Tier 2 Math intervention. Splash Math This site is great for grade K to 5. Games are organized by grade and topic. Xtra Math This site is great for grades 1 and up. You can create a classroom for your students to join to see the work they are doing or students can create individual accounts. Khan Academy This is a great resource for grade K and up. Khan Academy lessons include practice exercises and instructional videos. Freckle Math Freckle provides math exercises great from students in grades K to 9. Once you create your online classroom, you can assign certain math standards to one or all of your students to practice at school or at home.
