Explore the World with GeoGuessr

GeoGusser is a resource that allows students to learn about the world around them through a fun interactive game.

When you go the website, the first choice you have to make is if you want to play by yourself or challenge a friend.  When you start the game, you are plunked somewhere in the world using Google Maps Street view.  Using clues from the picture you need to guess where you are by clicking on a world map.  Once you guess where you are, a map comes up showing you the real location.

You can also pick different maps to play.  For example, you can focus on specific countries, certain mount ranges, US Cities, or famous places all over the world.

If you create an account (sign-in with your Google Account) you can create your own maps for students to play!

How can this be used in your classroom?
  • If you are studying a certain part of the world, have students play to learn more about the country
  • Use as an activity for students to do when they finish their work early
  • Have students play as an intro to a unit or lesson to build interest
  • Create a map specific to your lesson for students to play
