Here are some ideas to get your students to interact with the comments that you leave in a Google Doc.
1. Tag the student in the comment
Before you start typing your comment, type "+(their email address", eg. +jbish@omro.k12.wi.us. This will force an email to the student with the comment in it.
2. Leave a question in the comment
Ask a question in the comment that the student needs to reply to. Don't give the student their grade on the assessment until the comment has been replied to.
3. Voice comments
Instead of typing the comment, record yourself speaking the feedback. This makes the feedback more personal and may be faster for your then typing out the comments. Here is a video that walks you through how to use the read&write chrome extension to leave voice comments. **Make sure you sign-up for the free teacher account with read&write.
4. Leave resources in the comments
In your comment, link to a video or website that will review a concept for a student or pushing their learning a little further.
