5 Ideas for Using Student-Created Videos in Literacy Lessons


Videos are a great way for students engage your students in sharing their learning with you.  Here are some ideas of how you can include student-created videos in a literacy lesson:
  • Book Reviews/Trailers - Have students share a little bit about a book they have read.  Other students can watch them for ideas on what book to read next.
  • Reading Fluency - Have students record themselves reading a passage and then analyze their fluency.
  • Practice Public Speaking - Students can record themselves giving a speech and then reflect on their public speaking skills before giving the speech in front of the class.
  • Comprehension - Student can answer a series of comprehension related questions through video instead of using a worksheet
  • Stop Motion - Students can create a stop motion video depicting a certain part of a story
